    William and James Griggs travelled together on a convict ship named The Mangles and arrived at Sydney in July 1837. James was father to Hannah Griggs and father-in law to William Turner b 1830.

    William and James Griggs were transported for life to Australia and sailed on a prison ship. They were ancestors of Rosalie and Pat Turner.

    On arrival at Port Jackson,Australia in the prison ship, James was assigned to W B Dobson at Lake George,NSW. Lake George is between Canberra and Goulburn.James was second great grandfather to Rosalie and Pat Turner

    The Mangles was the convict ship on which William and James Griggs were transported.It departed from Portsmouth on the 8th March 1837 with 310 male convicts on board. The Master was William Carr and the Ship's surgeon was Fran Logan. Two of the convicts died on the journey but the remaining 308 disembarked at Port Jackson on the 10th July…
